You cannot sell it the same day

A share bought today cannot be sold today. Settlement takes time, and the earliest you can sell is the next trading day. This catches new investors constantly: they buy in the morning, the price jumps, and they find they cannot take the profit. Plan on holding anything you buy for at least a day, because you have no choice.
